Zenitude #18: Four-Leaf Clover Envy

How many times since we were children have we looked in a field of clover or a garden for the ever-elusive, magical four-leaf-clover? Leaping like a leprechaun when finding one. Knowing it would instantly send us lucky vibes and we would cherish it forever. Not me – no leaping. Ever. From the time I was a wee one until now, I have been a mighty-hunter of the magical four-leafer. And not once in my life have I found one. (It doesn’t help that there are 10,000 three-leaf clovers for every four-leaf clover. Fact.)

I would go to my grandmother’s house in Memphis, Tennessee and look through her photo albums and scrap books and there they were – ALL OVER THE PAGES! Four-leaf clovers! That SHE found and had saved since she was a wee one. All this magical goodness. It’s no wonder that she was magic in my eyes. They were all neatly pressed between the pages sending out their clover vibe, “Tisti, you just aren’t lucky enough to have one of us.” I always wanted to steal one of the darn things and yell out, “look what I found, in the backyard, it’s mine!” (That’s probably why I can’t find one – bad clover karma due to clover envy.)

So it remains a pot of gold teasing me at the end of the rainbow but it’s still on my bucket list – find a four-leaf clover.

Zenitude for today:

Someday soon, act like a child and lie in a field of clover. Let the magic find you. (And don’t get stung by a bee.)
