The Husband and I have been away on a working vacation for two weeks. He’s working. I’m continuing to work on what I’m going to be working on. (See Zenitude #30.) And then, on a whim, we decide to extend it into a third week. Let me start by saying, we have never ever been away this long – and I don’t think we will do it again. Here’s why.
I felt the need to Skype with our kitties. The Husband, on the other hand, in all of his pragmatic wisdom, replies, “Babe, that would f-u-r-r-r-e-a-k them out!”
Hmmmm….Oh, all right then. Go ahead, be that way and deflate my bubble. Who do you think I am anyway? The crazy cat lady?
But this is how it’s going to go down when these erratic little creatures finally see us. Those with cats, know that we'll be in the doghouse.
Us: Hi kitties! We’ve missed you!!! The Kitties: Oh….it’s you. You deserted us. We almost died. Us: Danielle took wonderful care of you every single day. The Kitties: Ahem…you left us for dead. Us: We couldn’t wait to see you. The Kitties: You are dead to us. Where’s our kibble…
And so it goes. The way of cats. Life will eventually be kitty bliss again. They will forgive us, but never forget, because kitties are total grudge holders. And, shhhh…don’t tell them…we leave again in three weeks. Oh, the travesty!
